On January 5, 2020, the seventh leg of the 2019/20 Safari tour concluded at Thika Greens Golf Resort, with Lavin Asego, a dual-code Kenya rugby star, emerging as the overall winner of the Pro-Am event.
Playing off a handicap of 15, Asego returned identical scores of 20 at the front and back nines for a gross score of 40, securing the overall winner's title.
Asego's team, which included Humphrey Kayange and A. Kwaya, finished in second place with 83 points, two behind the eventual winners, the team of F. Makazi, A. Mwaura, and R. Njuguna, anchored by Muthaiga Golf Club's Geoffrey Makokha.
Naomi Wafula, an elite amateur from Golf Park, won the Lady's prize, while Kenneth Mwangi Njoroge took home the men's prize. Elijah Bole and Macharia Wandere were awarded the respective nines prizes.
At the Pro-AM prize-giving event, Barclays Bank Regional Manager Arnold Ndugi congratulated the winners and reaffirmed the company's commitment to the growth of golf in the country.
