On January 4, 2020, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) made a significant breakthrough in their investigation into a string of high-value electronics thefts.
Arrested at a residential house in Buru Buru Phase 4 was Mr John Maina, 56, who was found in possession of 243 Synix TV sets believed to have been stolen on December 1, 2019.
According to the DCI, the recovery brings the total number of TVs recovered by detectives to 373.
The suspect is expected to be arraigned in court on Monday, January 6, 2020, to answer charges of robbery with violence.
As reported earlier, detectives had previously revealed that the electronic goods were stolen from a godown in Athi River, Machakos County, on December 1, 2019.
On December 31, 2019, detectives nabbed two suspects at a residential house in Mbiuni area, Machakos County, where the goods, including 130 TV sets worth Sh15 million, were recovered.
Following the recovery, the suspects led detectives to Kitengela, where the lorry used to ferry the stolen goods had been hidden.
