On January 4, 2020, stakeholders in the Coast region football fraternity gathered for a public participation meeting on the Mombasa FKF sub-branch. The meeting was attended by notable figures, including Bandari FC trustee Twaha Mbarak and former Harambee Stars head coach Mohammed Heri.

However, the meeting's focus shifted to the contentious issues in the Electoral Code of Football Kenya Federation. The attendees strongly rejected 15 of these issues, sparking a call for the resignation of the current FKF office led by Nick Mwendwa.

According to the attendees, there can be no free and fair election if the current team remains in office. They have demanded that the top brass resign and allow the electoral board, in collaboration with the IEBC, to set new rules and guidelines for the pending election.
