On Saturday, the Vatican Cricket Club wrapped up their Kenyan tour with a thrilling four-wicket victory over Kenya Kongonis at the Nairobi Club.
Having been set a target of 107 runs in 25 overs, the Vatican team's Romal Shah top-scored with 32 runs off 46 balls, while James Evans contributed 28 runs off 30 balls and Vip Kumar added 17 runs off 27 balls.
Despite a strong showing from the hosts, the Vatican side managed to reach the target in 22.2 overs, securing a hard-fought win.
The Vatican Cricket Club was established in 2014, with a mission to promote inter-faith dialogue through the sport. The team's squad consists of priests, deacons, and seminarians.
According to Vatican's Eammon O'Higgins, a priest, the team's decision to bat second when the ground was firmer proved to be a wise choice, given the damp conditions in the first innings.
When asked about future matches, O'Higgins expressed hope that the team would have the opportunity to play against Kongonis again when they visit Rome in March.
