On January 4, 2020, Nairobi Hemingways, a boutique hotel in Karen, and its sister hotel, Hemingways Watamu, received top ratings from the Small Luxury Hotels of the World. The global chain, consisting of 500 hotels in over 80 countries, evaluated the hotels based on the entire guest experience, including booking, housekeeping, and room ambiance.
Nairobi Hemingways scored an impressive 98.2% in the rating, while Hemingways Watamu scored 94.4%. The anonymous inspection report coincided with Hemingways Watamu joining the World of Hyatt, allowing travelers with Hyatt Hotels reward points to redeem their points at the coastal hotel.
According to Ross Evans, Hemingway group's operations director, the hotels have been benchmarked against global luxury hospitality standards.
