Published on January 4, 2020, Kenyan comedian and radio presenter MCA Tricky has left his fans guessing about his past.

Engineer Francis Munyao, popularly known as MCA Tricky, graduated with a mechanical engineering degree at Kenyatta University in 2019.

Tricky rose to fame in 2016 after making his debut in comedy at Churchill Show, wowing many with his rib-cracking performances.

However, few people knew that Tricky's journey to stardom was not an easy one. In an interview with the Daily Nation, he revealed that he was not an urchin as many perceived, but was instead hustling to make ends meet.

Tricky disclosed that he moved to Nairobi after his KCPE exams to hustle, as he believed his parents would stop providing for him when he turned eighteen.

'I would look at my dad, who struggled to raise even Sh. 100 for my fare. So instead of asking for it and humiliating him, I would toil hard,' Tricky said.

Tricky also revealed that he avoided unnecessary attention in university, which is why he remained mum about his higher education.

'The people who knew are the ones who should have known. In KU, comrades knew me. I would perform there as MCA Tricky. But I wouldn’t take a vuvuzela and a trumpet and start walking in town announcing that I’m in class,' Tricky said.

Today, Tricky is a well-known comedian and radio presenter, hosting a breakfast show at Radio Maisha.
