On a somber note, thousands of Gor Mahia fans came together to celebrate the life of Erastus Aduda, a 51-year-old die-hard fan who passed away on December 8, 2019, in Kisumu.

Aduda's colourful farewell ceremony took place at his home in Bad Owang' village, Gem Constituency, Siaya County, on Friday. The event was attended by thousands of fans, including some who came in their green home kit and others in the white away uniform.

As fans, they kept vigil overnight and showed their solidarity by dancing till Aduda's body was lowered into the grave in the afternoon. The ceremony was led by Gor Mahia officials, including Treasurer Sally Bollo and Organising Secretary Judith Nyangi.

"As fans, we should stand together during trying moments. We should be there for one another during such a time," said Nyangi, while also relaying the condolences from other officials who were absent.

Aduda is survived by a widow and four children. His passing marks the second time in 2019 that a well-known Gor Mahia fan has died. James Owuor Radido, also known as Cobra, passed away after a terror attack in Dusit D2 hotel in January 2019.
