On January 2, 2020, a 39-year-old man allegedly hacked his wife to death in Acheo village, Kogelo, Siaya County.
According to Siaya Sub-county Police Commander Justus Kucha, the suspect claimed his wife returned home drunk, but neighbours said a fight ensued after she returned home at midnight.
The suspect, who was being held at Siaya police station, is accused of cutting his wife with a panga in the head and stomach and hiding her body in the house.
Neighbours reported that the couple fought regularly and that the suspect denied his child access to the house after hiding the body.
The body was later moved to the Siaya County Morgue, awaiting postmortem.
Police received information about the incident from neighbours and are still investigating the matter.
