Comedian Francis Munyao, alias MCA Tricky, has been a household name since 2016, but few people know that he was a third-year student pursuing an engineering degree at Kenyatta University at the time.

Tricky, who graduated with a mechanical engineering degree from KU on December 20, 2019, has revealed that he chose to keep his higher learning a secret to avoid unnecessary attention in university.

“Everybody leads their life and you must not live your life with others. There is a life to live with others and there is a life to live alone,” Tricky said in an interview with the Saturday Nation on Friday.

Tricky's decision to keep his university life private was motivated by his desire to study in peace, without the distraction of being a celebrity.

However, his classmates at KU knew him, and he would often perform as MCA Tricky at university events.

Tricky's journey to stardom began when he debuted on Churchill Show, where he convincingly brought the street boy persona to the stage. However, few people knew that he was actually a student at KU.

Tricky admits that he once struggled as a homeless street boy in Nairobi, but it was more because he was out to make money. He made a decision not to bother his parents with demands for money, and instead, he toiled hard to support himself.

Tricky's comedy career has improved his life drastically, and he has been able to support his family and pay his fees.

However, Tricky plans to drop the street boy persona and adopt a more versatile style in the future. He also plans to pursue a master's degree at a university abroad later in the year.
