On Thursday, a 26-year-old man was found dead in his house in Ainamoi village, on the outskirts of Kericho town.

According to Senior Chief Richard Bett, the motive behind the man's death has not been established.

Edwin Kibet Koech, the deceased, was last seen the previous night at 9pm with his friends at Ainamoi trading centre.

When one of his friends went to check on him in the morning, the door to his house was locked from inside, forcing him to alert his father who tried to wake him up.

However, the door had to be broken by villagers, who were shocked to find the victim's body dangling from the roof of his house.

Chief Bett described the deceased as a hardworking person who was not known to abuse any form of drugs.

At the time of his death, Koech was running a motorbike spare shop at Ainamoi shopping centre and was unmarried.

It is worth noting that Kericho County Commissioner Moses Mbaruku had recently sounded an alarm on the increasing cases of suicide in the region, with over 12 cases reported in the County by the close of 2019.
