On Christmas Eve, a devastating fire swept through Ndhiwa town, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. This was not an isolated incident, as just six days earlier, a similar blaze had ravaged Homa Bay town, causing widespread damage and loss of property.

Former Kasipul MP Oyugi Magwanga visited the affected traders and expressed his concern over the repeated fires. He called for a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the fires and prevent future incidents.

Magwanga also urged the Homa Bay County government to equip itself with proper fire-fighting equipment to mitigate the losses suffered by traders. He suggested that the county make its fire-fighting engines more accessible to the public.

The former MP further challenged the county's eight MPs and Woman Representative to allocate funds from the emergency kitty in the NGCDF and NGAAF to help address emergencies in Homa Bay town.

Magwanga emphasized that Homa Bay is a cosmopolitan town with residents from all eight constituencies, and it is the responsibility of the legislators to contribute to mitigating the losses suffered by traders.
