Manchester United's £89million record signing Paul Pogba will be out for three to four weeks after undergoing surgery to address an ankle issue.
According to manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Pogba's latest injury is not a recurrence of the one that kept him out for three months earlier this season.
Solskjaer revealed that Pogba's injury is not related to the one that kept him sidelined for much of this season and defended United's handling of the midfielder's latest setback.
After Pogba missed United's 2-0 defeat at Arsenal, Solskjaer said that Pogba's own medical staff had agreed an operation was the best course of action.
“Here we go again,” said Solskjaer. “FA Cup third round and you're talking about Paul.”
“Paul came back after a long spell out, played two games, couldn't go to Burnley, felt his ankle was sore. We did a scan and it's not the same injury, it's a different injury, and when you get that scan you consult your own medical people as well, like I did when I was a player.”
United go to Wolves in the FA Cup tomorrow, a team Solskjaer has failed to beat in three previous games since taking charge.
