On January 3, 2020, a 31-year-old man in Kenya found himself in a precarious situation after allegedly impersonating a military officer to avoid paying a bodaboda rider.

Aggrey Karigi, a resident of Nairobi, had hired Peter Onyango Osula to transport him from Umoja to Huruma for Ksh. 300.

However, upon arrival, Karigi allegedly told Osula that he wouldn't pay and that he could do nothing to him because he was a KDF officer.

A crowd began to gather around the two after hearing Karigi's claim, and the situation escalated to the point where Osula attempted to lynch him.

Fortunately, police officers intervened and dispersed the crowd, rescuing Karigi from harm.

During his interrogation at Huruma police station, Karigi failed to produce any documentation to support his claim of being a military officer attached to the Kenya Air Force Moi Airbase in Eastleigh.

On January 16, 2020, Karigi's case will be mentioned in court, where the facts of the case will be read out to him.
