As the 2022 election draws near, President Uhuru Kenyatta has become the most sought-after figure in Kenyan politics. With barely a week into 2020, several key leaders are vying for his attention and endorsement.

Opposition leaders, led by ODM leader Raila Odinga, are among those seeking President Kenyatta's nod. Raila's efforts are not surprising, given the Head of State's influence in Kenyan politics.

However, it's not just Raila who is seeking President Kenyatta's blessing. Deputy President William Ruto, who has a '2013 pact' with the President, is also keen on getting his endorsement. Despite the President's dalliance with Raila, Ruto's allies insist that he has an obligation to back his deputy.

Other leaders, including Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi, Wiper party's Kalonzo Musyoka, Kanu chairman Gideon Moi, and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang'ula, are also seeking President Kenyatta's attention. They hope to replace him in State House come 2022.

Despite Ruto's repeated denials of relying on the President's endorsement, his allies insist that he has an obligation to back his deputy following their earlier 'pact.'
