On January 3, 2020, a fatal accident occurred along the Kitui-Kibwezi road, claiming one life and leaving five others injured.
According to Kibwezi sub-county Police Commander Ben Chagulo, the accident happened at around 6:20 am at Kisayani when the driver of a Toyota Voxy vehicle from Kitui lost control of the car after a tyre burst.
"The vehicle that had six occupants had a tyre burst and lost control before rolling several times," Chagulo said in a police report.
A female occupant died on the spot while five others sustained head injuries.
The injured are admitted at Kibwezi sub-county hospital, while the body of the deceased has since been moved to Makindu sub-county hospital mortuary.
The vehicle has been towed to Kibwezi Police Station.
