On January 3, 2020, a passenger bus traveling from Mombasa to Lamu in Kenya came under attack by suspected Al Shabaab militants.
At 12:30 pm, the gunmen opened fire on the bus, killing three men at close range.
Two other passengers were injured, with one sustaining a bullet wound to the arm and the other shot in the head.
Lamu County Commissioner Irungu Macharia confirmed the attack, stating that the bus belonged to Mombasa Raha Sacco.
A multi-agency security team has been deployed to the area to pursue the attackers.
