Antony Mwangi, popularly known as Anto Neosoul, is a singer, songwriter, actor, radio presenter, and seasoned TV host. Born in 1985, he is a millennial who has made a name for himself in the entertainment industry.
When asked about his name, Anto Neosoul, he explained that it was given to him by fans who introduced him as 'Anto mwenye hupenda Neosoul' (Anto, who loves Neo Soul). This was because he was heavily influenced by Neo Soul artists during his music career.
As a millennial, Anto believes that his generation is different from the older generation. He is unconventional, vocal, and clear about his path, which he attributes to the millennial benefit.
Looking back at the last decade, Anto summarized it as 'chips funga shuga.' He released his most popular song, 'Chips Funga,' and starred in a film that changed the film and sexual reproductive health in the world forever - Shuga.
Despite his success, Anto does not consider himself special. He believes that he has met his destiny one step at a time and has pulled chairs at tables where he was not invited. He has built his own tables to create opportunities for others.
Anto's journey began when he was nine years old, performing for former President Moi and then-Cardinal Maurice Otunga. He studied journalism at university, which has played a critical role in his career.
He has been a part of the original judges for Talanta Mtaani, lectured in over five universities, and self-sponsored a 'Big Bro Tour' in high schools to reach out and speak to young impressionable minds.
When asked about his success, Anto said that he is not successful as most people think. Success should be equated to lives transformed because of the power and will of who one is in society.
He believes that kindness and believing in God are essential for success. He advises his readers to work on themselves, stop comparing themselves to others, and look forward to what tomorrow holds.
