Published on January 3rd, 2020, Miguna Miguna, a deported lawyer, has informed the Kenyan government of his scheduled return to the country next week.

Through his lawyer, John Khaminwa, Miguna has written to the government, warning them to comply with court orders issued by High Court judge Chacha Mwita.

The letter, addressed to Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i and other top government officials, lists 10 court orders issued in December 2018 that the government must comply with.

According to the letter, Miguna will land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi at 9 pm on January 7th, 2020, aboard Lufthansa flight LH590.

“We urge you to respectively ensure that the orders delivered by Justice Chacha Mwita are strictly complied with,” the letter reads.

Justice Mwita had ruled that the State violated Miguna's rights by deporting him and awarded him Sh7.2 million in compensation, declaring that Miguna is a Kenyan by birth and that holding a Canadian passport does not deny him his birthright.
