On January 1, 2020, Liverpool extended their unbeaten run in the Premier League to 20 games with a 2-0 win over Sheffield United at Anfield.
Mo Salah and Sadio Mane scored goals in either half to help the Reds maintain their unbeaten run and draw closer to winning their first EPL title in over three decades.
Salah opened scoring for the hosts just four minutes into the match after tapping into the net a simple cross from Andy Robertson.
Virgil van Dijk sent a long ball from his side of the pitch to Robertson, who then outran Sheffield's defender before threading the pass to Salah.
Mane's goal came in the 64th minute after combining well with Mo Salah to score his side's second goal.
The Senegalese forward made a solo run towards the edge of Sheffield's 18-yard box and found the Egyptian, who immediately sent the ball into space.
Mane's goal was almost going out after Dean Henderson tried saving the effort but the forward refused to give up until the ball crossed the goal line.
The victory means Liverpool have reopened their 13-point gap over Leicester City with one match at hand, while Manchester City trail the Reds by 14 points.
