On the eve of the new year, a tragic incident occurred in Likuyani Sub-county, where a 22-year-old man, Isaac Imbiakha, took his own life by jumping into an underground well with his three-year-old son.

According to eyewitnesses, Imbiakha had been experiencing domestic problems and had warned family members not to waste time looking for him and his son if they went missing.

Isaac Imbiakha, 22, had earlier picked a quarrel with his estranged wife before the incident at St Luke's Evergrade Anglican Church compound in Forest village.

Construction workers at the church were shocked to find the well wide open, despite it being closed the previous evening. The discovery of the son's sweater and Imbiakha's wallet led them to suspect something bad had happened.

John Barasa, a witness, recalled that Imbiakha looked disturbed on the eve of the new year and seemed to be in deep thoughts as he passed by the church several times, holding his son's hand.

Police recovered the bodies with the help of villagers, who found the items Imbiakha left behind, including the son's sweater, a wallet with his identity card, and some tobacco powder.

Senior assistant chief Cornelius Luvasa advised residents to embrace dialogue in resolving domestic squabbles, stating that Imbiakha had been overwhelmed with domestic problems and had told the family he would die with his son.
