On Friday, leaders from Nyanza region will gather in Kisii to discuss and take a common stand on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) recommendations.

The meeting, which will be attended by 3,000 delegates from Kisumu, Migori, Homa Bay, Siaya, Nyamira, and Kisii counties, aims to bring together the region's leaders to discuss key issues such as agriculture, the blue economy, and governance.

According to Kisii Governor James Ongwae, the chairman of the caucus, the meeting is a crucial step in mobilizing the citizenry to participate in the BBI enrichment process.

"It is instructive to note that as a region we share the same aspirations and have always walked the same path. It is on this basis that elected leaders together with other stakeholders commit to champion the BBI report," said Governor Ongwae.

During the meeting, the delegates will have an opportunity to discuss and comprehend the recommendations in the report, with the aim of giving their views as a region.

"The meeting is very important as it is a step in mobilising the citizenry to participate in this round of BBI enrichment. The stakeholders will robustly discuss the report and we will later give our views as a region," said Governor Ongwae.

After the Kisii meeting, another one will be held in Western region, further emphasizing the region's commitment to taking a common stand on the BBI recommendations.
