Published on January 2, 2020, the East Africa Tennis Championships are set to kick off on January 6 at the Gymkhana club in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The tournament will feature teams from Kenya, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, Uganda, Burundi, and Comoros.

Kenya's title defence will be led by Angela Okutoyi, who won the Kenya Open, alongside her twin sister Roselida Asumwa and Alicia Owegi in the girls' Under-16 category.

Isami Brandon, Raymond Oduor, and Edmond Ogega will look to retain the boys' Under 16 crown, while Liberty Kibue, Ruinclife Ominde, and Gilbert Wechuli will compete in the boys' Under-14 tourney.

In the girls' under-14, Cynthia Cheruto, Radha Raja, and Faith Urasa will aim to retain the title they claimed last year in Nairobi.

Angela Okutoyi, the reigning Sports Personality of the year (Soya) most promising athlete, teamed up with Asumwa to win all their round robin matches in the team event without dropping a set.
