On January 1, 2020, a bus traveling towards Lamu in Kenya's Lamu County was attacked by suspected Al-Shabaab militants.
According to Lamu County Police Commander Irungu Macharia, the incident occurred in the Nyongoro area of Lamu County.
Mr. Macharia confirmed the attack but stated that there were no casualties or fatalities reported.
He further stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the number of passengers on the bus and the identity of the bus company.
Mr. Macharia assured the public that the situation is under control and that there is no cause for alarm.
