On November 20, 2019, Fatuma Tabwara, the newly appointed Vice Chairperson of the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC), collapsed and died at a wedding in Kombani, Kwale County.
According to a statement by nominated MCA Hanifa Mwajirani, Tabwara was confirmed dead on arrival at the Diani Beach Hospital.
Tabwara had been appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta just a few days prior to her death, on November 20, 2019.
Before her appointment, Tabwara served as a political advisor to Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya and had previously contested for the Kwale Women Rep seat via the PDR party ticket.
Tabwara also served as Chairperson of the County Public Service Board and played a key role in establishing the sexual harassment policy in the Kwale County Government.
She is set to be buried later on Sunday, as per the Islamic tradition.
