On Friday, a police patrol car ran over an improvised explosive device (IED) in Kotulo, Wajir County, killing two officers and injuring six others.
The survivors were airlifted to Nairobi for treatment, where they are receiving medical attention.
Following the attack, anti-terror police were put on high alert in Nairobi and Mombasa, with intelligence reports suggesting a potential terror attack in the area.

Deputy Inspector General Noor Gabow confirmed that the injured officers are out of danger, and armed GSU officers have been deployed to patrol areas along the hotels where the police believe the attackers are planning to harm people.
