On December 29, 2019, a violent attack occurred at a Jewish place of worship in upstate New York, leaving multiple people wounded.

According to the Orthodox Jewish Public Affairs Council (OJPAC), a call was made at 9:50 pm about a mass stabbing at the home of a Hasidic Rabbi in Monsey, New York State.

Five patients with stab wounds, all Hasidic, were transported to local hospitals, with two reportedly in critical condition.

A man brandishing a machete went into the rabbi's property during a Hanukkah celebration and knifed at least three people before fleeing, CBS New York reported.

Yossi Gestetner, a co-founder of the OJPAC for the Hudson Valley region, told The New York Times that one of the victims was a son of the rabbi.

Police in the US have been battling a rash of attacks against Jewish targets in recent years, with Saturday's stabbing following a shooting earlier this month at a kosher deli in a New York suburb.
