On a joyous Saturday, 66 brides and grooms exchanged their vows in a mass wedding at the Pipeline AIC Church in Nairobi. The event, which drew a large crowd, was organized by the church to help low-income couples fulfill their marriage rites.

According to Deputy Bishop Abraham Mulwa, the church donated Sh800,000 to organize the event. Couples were required to register with Sh1,400 at the Attorney General's office to proceed with the matrimonial function.

Speaking at the event, Mulwa explained that the church had taken the initiative to sponsor the event, as most of its worshippers are low-income earners. 'What they are required to do is to buy their wedding rings and proceed with the union,' he said.

The mass wedding has become increasingly popular in the country, with various churches resorting to it to target couples who are already living together. In February this year, 57 couples tied the knot in a mass wedding at Karaba Wango Catholic Church in Embu County.
