Kenyan-born lawyer Miguna Miguna is set to return to his motherland on January 7th, 2020, after a long and tumultuous journey. The firebrand lawyer has booked a flight ticket aboard Lufthansa Flight 590, which is scheduled to land in Nairobi at 21:25 hours.
According to a photo shared by Miguna on Twitter, the ticket was booked ahead of his return, with the caption 'Because Justice delayed is justice denied. Viva!' Miguna had initially planned to travel on January 11th but changed the date due to 'public demand.'
This will be Miguna's second attempt at gaining entry into Kenya after his first attempt in March 2018 hit a roadblock. He was deported in February 2018, days after his arrest over his role in the mock swearing-in of ODM leader Raila Odinga on January 30th, 2018.
However, in December 2018, the High Court ruled that Miguna is a Kenyan by birth and holding a Canadian passport does not deny him his birthright. In his ruling, Justice Chacha Mwita declared that the State violated Miguna's rights by deporting him and awarded him Sh7.2 million in compensation.
