On Friday evening, a tragic incident unfolded in Runganga Village, Embu North Sub-county, where a 37-year-old man stabbed his brother's wife to death before committing suicide.
The victim, 50-year-old Rosaline Kagendo, was attacked at her home by her brother-in-law, Charles Njeru, who used a kitchen knife to stab her multiple times.
According to Nembure Sub-location Assistant Chief Joseph Nyaga Njiru, the suspect found Kagendo preparing bananas for the Embu market on Saturday.
One of Kagendo's daughters heard her mother's screams and rushed into the house, only to find Njeru stabbing her. The girl then raised an alarm, attracting neighbours who took Kagendo to Embu Level Five Hospital, where she died upon arrival.
Local residents later found Njeru's body hanging from a tree in a neighbouring village, and police moved it to the Embu Level Five Hospital mortuary.
