Nakuru Residents Cry Out Over Bedbug Invasion ¶
Residents of Nakuru, Kenya, are facing a severe bedbug infestation, with some homeowners spending up to KSh 1,000 per month on pesticides to try and eliminate the pests.
According to residents, the bedbugs have invaded homes in areas such as Pondamali, Flamingo, Rhonda, Lakeview, and Mazembe, causing significant discomfort and stress.
Elizabeth Auma, a resident of Pondamali, shared her experience with Citizen TV on December 27, 2019, saying, "Hatulali, kila usiku ni kujikuna tu huku tukijaribu kuwaua kunguni hao. Hamna raha hapa jamani tusaidieni." (We are helpless, every night is just a struggle to try and eliminate these bedbugs. We have no peace here, people, we need help.)
Residents have tried various methods to get rid of the bedbugs, including using hot water and even breaking down their furniture, but the problem persists.
Despite spending significant amounts of money on pesticides, the bedbugs continue to infest homes, causing anxiety and discomfort for residents.
