GSU Officer Arrested for Kidnapping Safaricom Employee ¶
On December 27, 2019, a GSU officer was arrested in Mombasa after being accused of kidnapping a Safaricom employee in Malindi.
The officer, who was from Baringo, allegedly demanded KSh 500,000 from the employee, but was unable to pay the amount.
According to the DCI, the officer and two others were involved in the kidnapping and were arrested after the victim was released and returned home.
The officer was arrested in Mombasa after being tracked down by police, and is currently being held for further questioning.
This is not the first time a GSU officer has been accused of kidnapping in Kenya. In recent months, several officers have been arrested for their involvement in similar cases.

"Inadaiwa kwamba mwathiriwa ambaye ni mwanamke alikopa KSh 500,000 kutoka kwa mmoja wa waliomteka nyara Grace Wairimu ila alishindwa kulipa kulingana na walivyokubaliana," DCI said.
Police are still investigating the case and have not yet released any further information.
