On Friday night, December 27, 2019, a dramatic scene unfolded in Mombasa as a General Service Unit (GSU) officer and two civilians were arrested for allegedly abducting a 36-year-old Safaricom employee.
The victim, who works in Malindi, had taken a loan of Sh500,000 from one of the abductors, Ms. Grace Wairimu, but failed to meet the repayment deadline.
According to the detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the trio had ambushed the victim and forced her into a private car before driving off from Malindi.
However, officers were informed and started trailing the vehicle, which was later driven into Mombasa police station where the three were arrested and the victim rescued.
