On December 28, 2019, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga spoke at the Super Cup tournament in Kakamega County, where he emphasized the need for transparency in the sugar industry.

He called on Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri to make public the findings of the task force report on the sugar sector, stating that he would consult with President Uhuru Kenyatta to find ways of implementing the report's recommendations.

Raila also highlighted the importance of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) in addressing the ills that have hindered Kenya's progress, including corruption, which he said has impoverished Kenyans.

Siaya Senator James Orengo, who was also present at the event, echoed Raila's sentiments, noting that corruption remains a significant obstacle to Kenya's economic growth.
