On December 24, 2019, a disturbing incident occurred at a home in Njiru, Nairobi, where a 36-year-old man allegedly assaulted his wife in front of their children.

Mercy Bochere, the wife, had arrived in Nairobi from her rural home in Kisumu with their children without her husband's knowledge and found him cohabiting with another woman.

According to reports, a quarrel ensued after the husband, Dick Ochieng Ragalo, asked his wife why she visited without seeking his consent or informing him.

However, in a surprising turn of events, Mercy Bochere has withdrawn the assault charges against her husband, Dick Ochieng Ragalo, leaving the case in limbo.

Senior Resident Magistrate Jackline Kibosia has turned down Mercy Bochere's application to withdraw charges against her husband, citing that the Director of Public Prosecutions must agree to drop the charges.
