Raila Demands Ruto's Resignation, Accuses Him of Corruption ¶
On December 27, 2019, Raila Odinga, the leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), appeared on a Citizen TV interview, where he called for the resignation of Deputy President William Ruto, accusing him of corruption and hypocrisy.
Raila claimed that Ruto's actions were contradictory to his words, as he was seen donating millions of shillings to churches every Sunday, yet he was accused of corruption.
"We have a situation where people are walking around with bags full of money every Sunday, looking for harambee to donate to, and we are supposed to fight corruption by not exposing them," Raila said.
He further stated that Ruto's actions were a clear indication of his involvement in corruption, and that he should be investigated immediately.
"Let us expose him, let us tell him to resign, and let us investigate him," Raila said.
It is worth noting that this is not the first time Raila has questioned Ruto's wealth, particularly his Sunday donations to churches.
However, Ruto has consistently denied any wrongdoing, stating that he was simply fulfilling his Christian duties by donating to the church.
"I was taught to give to God, and I will continue to do so," Ruto said in a previous interview.
Despite Ruto's denials, Raila remains adamant that he is involved in corruption and that he should be investigated.
"We will not be fooled by his actions, and we will continue to expose him," Raila said.
