On December 28, 2019, Kenyan international footballer Victor Wanyama announced that his foundation, the Victor Wanyama Foundation, would be sponsoring six needy students through high school.

The initial plan was to support two students, but the foundation received many heart-warming and genuine cases, leading them to add four more students to the sponsorship list.

According to a statement from the foundation, the six students - Eva Basweti, Kyule Daniel, Omondi Tamara, Adhiya Sammy, Makokha Lamech, and Tirzah Shem - will receive full educational scholarships for four years and any necessary support to ensure their success.

Wanyama, the captain of the Harambee Stars, congratulated the students and wished them the best as they begin their high school journey.

He also expressed his desire to visit the students in their new schools when he returns home and urged them to work hard and make the most of the opportunity.

The Victor Wanyama Foundation has also recently acquired a 21-acre plot in Busia, where the Victor Wanyama Academy will be based. The academy will combine sports and education, according to the foundation's CEO, Cynthia Wanyama.
