On December 28, 2019, Pakistan and Kenya strengthened their bilateral trade ties to stimulate economic growth. Pakistan High Commissioner to Kenya Saqlain Syedah highlighted the significance of enhancing economic growth between the two countries.
“Pakistan and Kenya enjoy excellent bilateral relations, which continue to flourish in all fields. Our bilateral trade relations are no different,” she said.
Kenya is one of Pakistan’s major trading partners, with trade valued at $700 million in 2022. Major trading products include rice from Pakistan and Kenya’s tea, as well as pharmaceuticals, machinery equipment, and other items.
However, the envoy noted that there are immense opportunities for an increase in trade. She suggested exploring other areas such as information technology, agriculture, electronics, and engineering goods, infrastructure development, housing, and healthcare.
Pakistan plans to organize the first-ever Africa Trade Development Conference in Nairobi, which will be addressed by Pakistan Minister for Trade and Foreign Affairs.
