IED Attack in Wajir East Leaves Two Dead, Seven Injured

On December 27, 2019, a police vehicle was hit by an IED in Wajir East Sub-County, resulting in the deaths of two police officers and injuries to seven others.

A statement from the police revealed that the attack occurred during a regular patrol. The statement read: “Today at around 1600hrs special forces officers attached to Kotulo Patrol base while on their way from Khorof-Arar to Kotulo onboard their camp Landcruiser were hit by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).”

Four of the officers sustained head injuries, while three others had back and chest bruises.

The incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in the region.
