Manchester United's 4-1 win over Newcastle United on December 26, 2019, was marked by impressive performances from the club's young players, particularly Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford.
Greenwood scored a stunning 25-yard goal, while Rashford netted a header reminiscent of Cristiano Ronaldo's style, with Anthony Martial adding a double to the score.
United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praised his attackers, saying they deserved the comparison to Ronaldo, citing Greenwood's exceptional finishing ability and Rashford's maturity in his game.
“Mason can do every single technique,” Solskjaer said. “He can strike it and curl it. Cristiano scores just as many with his left foot. Mason can curl with both feet, just an exceptional finisher.”
On Rashford's header, Solskjaer noted that he had been working on it and praised his physical specimen, saying he compared Rashford to a boy he used to play with who headed the ball well at a similar age.
The only setback for United was a knee injury to midfielder Scott McTominay, who left the game on crutches and was replaced by Paul Pogba at half-time.
“He's done his ligament in the knee,” Solskjaer said. “I don't know how bad it is. Let's see, but the boy has got the biggest heart.”
