On December 26, 2019, Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba made a powerful statement against racism by wearing black and white wristbands during a match against Newcastle.

As part of his personal protest, Pogba asked his teammates to join him in wearing the wristbands, which read 'No to racism' and 'We are one.'

Before the match, Pogba presented one of the wristbands to a young fan in the crowd, a moment he later shared on Instagram with a quote from Martin Luther King: 'Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.'

When asked about his decision to take a stand against racism, Pogba explained, 'I think we have the chance to have this power to show things in football, on TV. People see it so I think that will make people understand some things.'

Pogba's actions were a response to the ongoing issue of racism in football, which he believes is a result of 'ignorance' and a lack of understanding.
