On December 27, 2019, Education CS Prof George Magoha highlighted the achievements of students who had made significant improvements in their KCSE results. However, one student's story went largely unnoticed by the media.
Caroline, a student from Kibra, is a shining example of determination and resilience. Despite facing numerous challenges, including losing her parents and dropping out of school for two years, she managed to score a B- in the KCSE.
According to Jane Okeyo's Facebook post, Caroline scored 237 marks in KCPE and then went on to achieve remarkable success in KCSE. Her story is a testament to the power of hard work and perseverance.
Education CS Prof George Magoha commented on the improvements in the KCSE performance, stating that there had been a marked improvement in the performance of candidates this year. He also highlighted the Ministry of Education's readiness to roll out the Competence-Based Curriculum from January 13, 2020.
Magoha further noted that cases of examination irregularities had reduced, and that the Ministry was doing well in addressing the issue of early exposure to examination materials.
Caroline's story remains an inspiration, and it is our hope that education officers at constituency levels will identify and recognize such deserving cases in the future.
