On Saturday, the stage will be set for a thrilling showdown in Kapsokwony, Bungoma County, as the fourth leg of the Athletics Kenya Cross Country Championships gets underway.

Among the top contenders is Endebess 10km champion Kenneth Kiprop, who has been fine-tuning his skills ahead of the 2020 season. Kiprop, who trains in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet County, is optimistic about his chances of coming out on top in the senior 10km race.

"My preparations for the race have been good and I'm looking forward to a good race. My target is to be on the podium," Kiprop said.

For Kiprop, the Kapsokwony event is an opportunity to sharpen his skills ahead of the National Cross Country Championships trials in Nairobi. He is also eyeing a spot in Team Kenya for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the 5000m event, alongside his training mate Michael Kibet.

Other notable athletes set to compete in the event include 2016 Africa Cross Country junior champion Miriam Cherop, who won the third leg in Sotik two weeks ago. Cherop, who is also the World Under-20 1,500m silver medallist, is targeting to represent Kenya in the Africa Cross Country Championships in April.
