Kenyan Netizens Demand Justice for Hit-and-Run Driver

On December 27, 2019, a viral video dominated social media platforms as Kenyan netizens protested the rogue behavior of the driver of a car by registration number KBB815L.

The driver was caught on tape running over a motorcycle rider along the Thika Super Highway without stopping to assist the victim.

Fortunately, the biker is seen rising from the ground despite the heavy fall, and is believed to have escaped.

Netizens have petitioned NTSA, the Kenya Police, and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to apprehend the driver and bring them to justice.

Although the state institutions are yet to respond, the campaign adds to a long list of citizen action, supported by social media, aimed at correcting various wrongs in the Kenyan society.

Some netizens have called for the driver to be denied the chance to ever hold on the wheel of a car for the rest of their life, while others have suggested that they should serve several years in jail.

As the campaign continues, many are urging the driver to surrender to the authorities, warning that if they don't, they should be charged with extra counts.
