On December 26, 2019, Musalia Mudavadi, the leader of the Amani National Congress (ANC) party, marked Utamaduni Day at the 40th Maragoli Cultural Festival at Mbale Grounds in Vihiga County.

Speaking at the festival, Musalia Mudavadi called for the protection of trade unions against high-handedness by the executive. He specifically criticized the Teachers Service Commission's interference in the affairs of the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT), labeling it a move to kill trade unions.

Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa also attended the festival, urging Kenyans to adhere to cultural norms to maintain a well-coordinated and cohesive society.
