On December 27, 2019, the national women volleyball team resumed training at the Kasarani Indoor Arena, marking a significant step towards the upcoming African Olympic qualifiers in Yaoundé, Cameroon.
Coached by Paul Bitok, the team of 17 players has been working tirelessly to perfect their skills, with Bitok revealing that he will name his final squad on Tuesday.
"It's good that we have a full camp on resumption. They are a bit sluggish but that's normal when you are coming from such a break," Bitok said after the training session.
Kenya will face stiff competition from Egypt, Cameroon, Nigeria, and Botswana in the qualifiers, with Bitok expressing confidence in the team's preparedness.
"There are a few grey areas that we have identified and that's what we are concentrating on. The mood in camp is good and the girls are improving each day," Bitok noted.
The team will depart for Cameroon next Friday, with their opening match against Egypt scheduled for January 5.
