On December 27, 2019, a disturbing incident unfolded in Kirinyaga, where a 30-year-old man allegedly forced a 2-year-old boy to drink beer during Christmas.
According to reports, the suspect, identified as Mercus Kinyua from Nyakio village, took advantage of the festive season to commit the heinous act.
Concerned family members rushed the inebriated young child to hospital, fearing for his health and demanding the arrest of the suspect.
The area chief, David Muriithi Gikunju, ordered the immediate arrest of the suspect and blamed the Kirinyaga County Government for licensing village bars in the Nguka location.
“Even the boy’s father has a bar and the man took the advantage to force the boy to drink the beer, the boy was drunk,” explained the chief.
The suspect is currently being held at the Nguka Police Post pending arraignment in court.
