Hertha Berlin's pursuit of Victor Wanyama has hit a roadblock, with the German club opting for Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka instead. The development comes as Wanyama continues to face challenges in securing regular playing time at Tottenham.
Wanyama's struggles at Tottenham have been well-documented, with the Kenyan midfielder making just four appearances for the club this season. His last outing was a late substitute appearance in Tottenham's defeat to Bayern Munich in late September.
Hertha manager Jurgen Klinsman had expressed interest in signing Wanyama to bolster his midfield, but the situation has changed with Klinsman prioritizing Xhaka. Xhaka's agent, Jose Noguera, confirmed that his client has agreed on terms with Hertha Berlin and is eager to join the club.
“Look, I will say it frankly and honestly, we are in agreement with Hertha Berlin and would like to go to Berlin. We have told Arsenal boss Raul Sanllehi and sporting director Edu Gasper as well as the new coach Mikel Arteta,” Noguera said.
Wanyama's future remains uncertain, with the Kenyan midfielder also linked with moves to Belgium, Italy, and China.
