Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua, and former Senator Johnston Muthama are locked in a supremacy battle over who should lead the Kamba community in Kenya's succession politics.

During a consultative meeting at his Yatta farm, Kalonzo declared his intention to work with President Uhuru Kenyatta, even after 2022, sparking a heated response from Muthama.

"I have made a resolution to work with President Kenyatta even after 2022," Kalonzo said, drawing the wrath of Muthama, who dismissed him as "politically blind".

Muthama vowed to lead the community in the "right political direction" and declared himself the new kingpin of the Ukambani region, accusing Kalonzo of being a coward.

However, a section of Ukambani leaders responded to Muthama's remarks, asking him to quit Kalonzo's Wiper party if he couldn't respect their leader.

Kitui Senator Enock Wambua accused Muthama of steering his own political scheme and disrespecting Kalonzo, while Maendeleo Chap Chap leader Alfred Mutua dismissed Kalonzo and Muthama, claiming they didn't speak for the Kamba community.
