On December 19th, police responded to a 911 call from a house in Federal Way, Washington, where they found 85-year-old Beverly Jenne on her bed with an electrical cord wrapped around her neck and a gun next to her.

They also discovered the body of Janet Oyuga, who had been shot multiple times, and found Angela Oyuga, Janet's sister, shot and fighting for her life.

According to police, Beverly had lived in the house since 1979, but it was foreclosed in November 2019. The new owner allowed Beverly to continue living in the house while it was being renovated, and Janet and Angela Oyuga entered into a rent-to-own agreement with the new owner, allowing Beverly to stay until she found another place to live.

Police believe Beverly killed Janet and then lay in wait for Angela to return from work, shooting her in the back. Beverly then attempted to commit suicide, leaving a note in her car stating that Janet was not a nice person and was planning to evict her.

As the community mourns the loss of Janet Oyuga, the family plans to send her body back to Kenya for burial. A GoFundMe account has been set up to help with the costs.
