On December 27, 2019, a devastating plane crash occurred at Almaty airport in Kazakhstan, resulting in the loss of nine lives.

The Bek Air plane, carrying 100 people including five crew members, crashed shortly after take-off, leaving nine people injured, six of whom were children.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev pledged to provide compensation to the families of the victims and vowed that those responsible would be held accountable under the law.

A government commission has been established to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
